Shadowcat Unveils Sportfish-carrying Support and Expedition Vessel Concept

Monaco Yacht Show 2024

Adaptability is a key feature, with a multi-tool-like approach to managing the various functions, the vessel incorporates proven commercial off-shore davit and crane technology, lifts and foldable decks to maneuver its huge list of equipment.

Designed to prioritize flexibility in mission and with a keen focus on operational excellence, this vessel boasts superior stability when launching and recovering equipment. Unlike traditional monohulls, which are often limited to launch and recovery in "harbor conditions," this catamaran and its unique wave-compensation davits can handle operations in 1.5-meter seas, with a maximum roll of just 6 degrees and a pitch of 3 degrees. This capability ensures that adventure enthusiasts can explore remote destinations with ease and confidence, even in more challenging sea conditions.   These procedures can be undertaken quickly and safely, without the need for ballast transfer.

A vessel for the true ocean sport enthusiast, M/Y CATFISH is designed for endless opportunities for connecting with the ocean, both on the surface or in the deep sea. Key features of its in-house interior layout and design, supported by Theodoros Fotiadis of T.Fotiadis Design, are the creative ways guests can interact with the vessels remarkable complement of toys including a ‘MARINER’S DEN” with large fold out balcony, generous lounge, bar and gyroscopic pool table. A glass-enclosed submersible garage and various toys are viewed via the lounge’s roll up door which provides a fully open-air relaxation space. Designed by in-house designer, Michael Anthony Bagdonas, approached the exterior design of the support vessel Catfish with a focus on functionality and aesthetic appeal. He envisioned a sleek, modern silhouette that not only enhances performance but also embodies the spirit of adventure.

Shadowcat, the award-winning developer of catamaran-based superyacht support vessels, introduces its latest concept vessel—a true expedition marvel engineered for the most demanding maritime adventures. The first-of-its kind vessel combines luxurious accommodations with unparalleled versatility, offering the ability to carry and deploy a custom 61-foot sportfish, three large bespoke Pascoe International tenders, the AVA 660/7 (a 7 -person Triton submersible), and an EC135 helicopter from its certified pad and hangar, along with generous and elegant accommodation for 10 guests and 19 crew.

Constructed entirely from marine-grade aluminum, this vessel leverages the superior efficiency of its catamaran hull design, resulting in a lightweight, fuel-efficient platform that sets new standards for expedition yachting. Its streamlined design ensures that it remains agile and capable, while also offering guests a host of luxurious amenities and recreational spaces.  With a top speed of 21 knots, the vessels range is 5000 nm at its cruising speed of 14 knots.
